KRISHNAGIRI: All the 337 village panchayats would hold their gram sabha meetings on May 1, said the Collector, Mangat Ram Sharma. He said that observers had been deputed to all the village panchayats to monitor the meetings. The agenda to be taken up at the gram sabha meetings is as follows: to list out the various beneficiaries through various development programmes, list out the development programmes approved by the panchayats, review the progress that has been made in keeping the environment clean since the last gram sabha, converting the collected garbage into earthworm manure, maintenance of women sanitary complexes, construction of individual sanitary complexes under the total sanitation programme, construction of water harvesting structures, abolition of child labour, disaster prevention measures and to pass a resolution on keeping Krishnagiri green and clean by planting 1000 saplings in every panchayat. The Collector has also appealed to the public and self-help group members to participate in the gram sabha meetings on May 1 and put forth their suggestions on the development that needs to be undertaken.
