Rupee strengthens
MUMBAI:
Despite a robust dollar overseas, the rupee on Tuesday strode to a new five-week closing high of 43.6700/6750 a dollar, driven up by healthy trade and portfolio investment inflows in the absence of central bank intervention to contain its rise.
In yet another session of quiet and range-bound trading at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee notched up a further three paise gain from Monday's close of 43.7000/7075. PTI
