`Achuthanandan should apologise'

Staff Reporter

KANNUR: The KPCC general secretary, Kodikunnil Suresh, has said that the Leader of the Opposition, V.S. Achuthanandan's statement regarding increase in the number of entrance examination top scorers in Malappuram will stigmatise students who have performed well in the entrance examinations and joined professional courses.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Suresh said that Mr. Achuthanandan's remarks were irresponsible as it targeted Muslim students.

This `false and cheap' comment was an insult to a community, he said.

The Leader of the Opposition should withdraw his statement and convey his apology, he said.
