Water level

MADURAI: The level in the Periyar dam on Tuesday stood at 111.4 feet with no inflow and a discharge of 130 cusecs.

The level in the Vaigai dam was 30.35 feet with an inflow of 182 cusecs and discharge of 41 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 1459 mcft.

900 pirated VCDs seized, two arrested

The Video Piracy Cell police seized 900 pirated video compact discs of latest Tamil movies here on Monday. Two persons were arrested and electronic gadgets used to record the VCDs were also seized.

Following a tip off, the police raided the premises of Rehmathullah and found some VCDs. Based on his confessions, they searched the house of Vijayaraman of Usilampatti where nearly 500 VCDs were seized. The VCDs included `Chandramukhi,' latest Rajnikanth movie. The accused were remanded to judicial custody, police sources said.

Grievance day meet

The Mayor, the Commissioner and senior officials participated in a grievance day meeting on Tuesday in which residents of south zone aired their grievances. He cleared seven petitions on the spot and directed the officials to look into the grievance immediately.

They would also inspect the civic facilities at wards 60 and 61, prior to the meeting.
