Trinamool Congress splits
KOLKATA:
In a major blow to the Trinamool Congress chief and NDA ally, Mamata Banerjee, her party on Tuesday suffered a split barely two months before the Kolkata civic poll on the question of alliance with the Congress as the rebel leader, Subrata Mukherjee, floated a separate platform. Mr. Mukherjee, the city mayor who hosted a dinner meeting for MLAs and councillors, said: ``I am floating a platform, `Paschimbanga Unnayan Congress Manch' and will form a political party.'' — PTI
