Swami Ranganathananda was one of the greatest spiritual leaders of modern times. He was a great scholar and a visionary. His innumerable lecturers and discourses worldwide left an indelible impact on the minds of scores of people, cutting across cultures and continents.

* * * We have lost one of the foremost modern exponents of Vedanta. The swami's knowledge of Sanathana Dharma as contained in the Vedas was notable. His simple approach, command over the language together with effective communication enabled the masses to comprehend the meaning of life.

Those who lived in Delhi in the 1950s will recall with nostalgia the Sunday evening discourses of Swami Ranganathananda on the Gita. Besides the vast auditorium in the Ramakrishna Mission premises, even the lawns used to be packed.
