Sensex extends losses
MUMBAI:
Despite a temporary bounce back on excellent performance by Reliance Industries, the stock market today succumbed to heavy selling and drove the Sensex down by 61 points to 6278.50 at close, extending losses to a second straight session in reaction to fresh eruption to the feud between the Ambani brothers. RIL's Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Anil Ambani's refusal to sign accounts coupled with his allegations that there was a conspiracy to oust him from the flagship company, reportedly played spoilsport on the bourses, brokers said.
The BSE benchmark 30-share index rebounded from the early low of 6286.15 and even shot up to the intra-day high of 6358.59 after RIL announced better-than-expected working results during the mid-session. PTI
