HYDERABAD: The Indian junior hockey players arrived in Hyderabad for a preparatory camp for the forthcoming Junior World Cup hockey championship. The camp was officially scheduled to start from Wednesday, but only 10 players arrived on the first day along with physical trainer Dr. Saju Joseph. Coach Harendra Singh is likely to arrive here only on Saturday. Some of the Petroleum Sports Board players are likely to join after a felicitation function. Eighteen-year-old Ajitesh Rai of Air India is familiar with the conditions here after having played for the Hyderabad Sultans in the Premier Hockey League. And now he is very keen to make a big impact, if given the chance, in the Junior World Cup. One of the 26 probables selected to attend the camp, Patna-born Ajitesh is confident that by virtue of his PHL experience, he can only go forward.
The probables list: Goalkeepers: Adrian D'Souza, Srijesh, Jagbir Singh, Pokrelo and Gaurav Singh. Full-backs: William Zalxo, Sandeep Singh, Raghunath, Kuldeep Singh, Ajmer Singh. Midfield: V.S. Vinay, Senthil, V. Gopal, Gaurav Tokhi, Vivek Gupta, Prabodh Tirkey, Navpreet Singh, Vikram Kant. Forwards: Adam Sinclair, Hari Prasad, Ajitesh Rai, Ravi Pal, Guvinder Singh (PSB), Virender Lakra, Tushar Khandekar, Chittaranjan, Gurvinder Singh (Namdhari), Sardar Singh, Manish, Edmond Kerketta, V. Raja, Sunil Ekka, Nitin Kumar, M.A. Aleem, Dhananjay.
