Airtel One Rally from May 8

Sports Reporter

KOLKATA: The main qualifying rounds of the Airtel One India Challenge Rally will be held simultaneously in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi on May 1.

Each of these cities have been identified as the central points of the four zones — West, South, East and North — from where the approximately 7,000 km long rally will be simultaneously launched on May 8.

The zonal qualifiers will cover 23 cities but the maximum number of entries will be from the metros, informed the organisers in a news conference on Wednesday.

One of the national motor sports body — FMSCI — will provide the technical support.

The final stage will be held over two legs following the qualifiers, which will select 50 cars each from the four zones.

Each car can have a team of three people. The first three finishers of the first leg will get cash prizes of Rs.4, Rs.2 and Rs.1 lakh respectively.

The top three overall winners earn Rs.30, Rs.15 and Rs.8 lakh respectively.
