U.N. chief's praise for The Hindu

Staff Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, has praised The Hindu for highlighting issues related to HIV/AIDS-affected people.

Mr. Annan's attention was drawn towards the space given by The Hindu to contributors who wanted to write about HIV/AIDS by P. Kousalya, representative of the Indian Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS, during an interaction on Wednesday evening. She said the media should take up the cause of HIV-positive people and raise issues that would help in sensitising others.

Mr. Annan appreciated the initiative and said other newspapers should also give space to HIV/AIDS-related issues.
