THRISSUR: Viva Kerala stormed into the quarterfinals of the N.I. David Memorial State club football championship at the Corporation Stadium here on Wednesday. Viva, which trailed by a goal in the first-half, scored six goals in the second-half to thrash Sporting Soccer, Malappuram 6-1. Suresh Babu stunned Viva by putting Sporting Soccer ahead in the 27th minute. However, V.S. Anuj restored parity in the 57th minute and opened the floodgates. Anuj found the target again in the 65th minute and Jackson Sebastain (63rd, 68th), Denson Devadas (72nd), Benrajan (75th) completed the tally for Viva. In another match, Hunters FC, Palakkad overcame Coastal Recreation Club, Kollam 4-3 to enter the second round. Nawaz (22nd), M.B. Rafi (44th), Sanu (53rd) and Veeravu (56th) scored for Hunters, while Ronson (15th), Riaz (36th) and Bastin Simon (67th) scored for the Kollam side.
