DHARWAD: The Dharwad Station of All India Radio has started broadcasting two Kannada national news bulletins that were earlier beamed from New Delhi. The new arrangement has come in the wake of a policy decision taken by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to transfer the broadcast of regional language national bulletins to the respective States. Dharwad is the only non-capital centre of All India Radio in the country that has been given the privilege of broadcasting the local language news bulletins. Under the new arrangement, Bangalore and Dharwad stations of All India Radio will share the broadcast of four regional language bulletins, each of ten minutes duration. While Dharwad will broadcast the national Kannada news bulletin at 7.35 a.m. and 8.20 a.m., Bangalore will produce and broadcast the same at 1.10 p.m. and 7.35 p.m. This is in addition to the existing arrangement of broadcasting regional bulletins at 7.05 a.m. from Dharwad and at 2.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m. from Bangalore. There will be no change in the bulletins broadcast through the FM channel in Bangalore.
