Miners' strike ends peacefully

Staff reporter

KHAMMAM: The 72-hour strike of coal workers passed off peacefully in the Singareni Collieries. Though the strike was spearheaded by revolutionary unions, it was incident-free in all 13 areas spread over four districts -- Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar and Adilabad. Though mining operations were paralysed in almost all 60 working mines of the company, opencast projects witnessed a marginal improvement in attendance from the first shift on Wednesday.

Coal production from underground mines will be resumed from the first shift on Thursday.
