Free eye camp

NEW DELHI : A free eye camp was organised jointly by Tarun Mitra Parishad and Mitra Sangam Delhi at Tagore Public School here on Wednesday in which patients were administered treatment, given medicines and lenses. The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party president, Harsh Vardhan, was the chief guest on the occasion.

The president of the Parishad, Ashok Jain, informed that of the 307 eye patients examined today, 31 persons were selected for cataract operations at St. Stephen's Hospital.

Among those who addressed the gathering included the manager of Tagore Public School, Chandra Kant Arora, and the BJP Shahdara Zone president, Rajesh Gaur.

Residential complex

NEW DELHI : A residential complex - consisting 156 family quarters - for the Central Industrial Security Force personnel was inaugurated at Dwarka here on Wednesday by the Director General of CISF, K.M. Singh.

The completion of the residential complex assumes significance as the CISF personnel posted in the Capital have been facing problems keeping their family members with them. The complex is meant for head constables and constables.

"Education for All''

NEW DELHI : A two-day programme titled "Education for All" for children from various parts of the country began at the National Bal Bhavan here on Wednesday.

The programme was inaugurated by the Director of Elementary Education and Literacy, Amit Kaushik, who interacted with the children and shared the literacy statistics of the country.

About 28 teams comprising 300 children and teachers from different States, including Jammu and Kashmir, Andamans and Nicobar, Nagaland, Jharkhand and Bihar are participating in the programme.

Award conferred

NEW DELHI : K. Subrahmanian, the Managing Director of Afcons Infrastructure Limited, was conferred the Bharat Shiromani Award in the Capital on Wednesday for his contribution to the construction industry.

Mr. Subrahmanian, an engineering post-graduate from NITIE, Mumbai, has contributed extensively to the construction industry, particularly in contract management productivity and human resources management.

School function

NEW DELHI : To commemorate 15 years of its completion, St. Mark's Senior Secondary Public School, Meera Bagh, organised a function here this past week.

The function started with the chairman of the School, T.P. Aggarwal, unfurling the flag of the educational institution. Meritorious students were awarded with scholarship cheques on the occasion.

The senior and junior students presented a cultural bonanza.
