NEW DELHI: An alleged gangster, who along with his accomplices had reportedly killed two head constables of the Haryana police and made away with their arms and ammunition a week ago, was killed in an encounter with the Special Cell of the Delhi police at Vasant Kunj in South-West Delhi on Wednesday. Acting on a specific tip-off, a Special Cell team had laid a trap at Kishangarh village in Vasant Kunj. The suspect, later identified as Sandeep alias Narsimha, appeared on the scene in Maruti Zen car around 2-30 p.m. When the police challenged him, he opened fire at the police team. The police team retaliated and Sandeep sustained several bullet injuries. He was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where he was declared brought dead. The police recovered a .38-bore Webley Scott revolver and the stengun, which belonged to the Haryana police constable. On April 20, Sandeep, along with his associates, Dharamraj and Bantu, had been stopped by two Haryana police constables, Randhir and Ram Kishan, in Sonepat for questioning. The trio opened fire on the two and killed them. They then escaped with the stengun, live cartridges and also the police motorcycle. While Dharamraj had been arrested and the motorcycle recovered, Sandeep and Bantu were absconding. . Sandeep was also involved in more than 20 cases of murder, attempt to murder, dacoity and robbery.
