Two held for murder

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI: Two persons, allegedly involved in kidnapping and murder of a trailer truck driver in Haryana, have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police.

According to the police, Rajesh Kumar Verma, a trailer truck driver, and an unidentified cleaner had gone missing after they had left for Hissar to bring back steel consignment. The two had left Delhi on February 5, 2004. Following investigations, the Crime Branch managed to find a photocopy of the unidentified cleaner from a transporter.

After several months, the police arrested the suspect, identified as Afzal, along with his associate, Muntyaz on Tuesday.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to having kidnapped and killed Rajesh.

Three suicide cases

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI: Three persons, including a woman, allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents reported from different parts of the Capital on Wednesday.

A 22-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling in his rented accommodation at Katwaria Sarai in South Delhi this morning.

The police identified the victim as Vivek Shukla, a resident of Hardoi in Uttar Pradesh. At Patel Nagar in West Delhi, one Sir John allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in premises where he used to give tuitions to students. A suicide note was recovered from the spot. In another incident, a 25-year-old woman, identified as Sheela, wife of Dinesh, allegedly hanged herself from the ceiling in her house at Hari Nagar in West Delhi.

DDA investigator held

NEW DELHINEW DELHINEW DELHI: A field investigator of the Delhi Development Authority has been arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi Government for allegedly adding names of people, eligible for getting a plot after being displaced, on the basis of forged documents.

According to the police, one Noor Mohammad had complained that a slum cluster at Virender Nagar in West Delhi had been removed in 2001 and the residents were supposed to be allotted plots by the DDA. However, non-eligible people were getting possession of plots on the basis of forged documents.

A case was registered by the ACB.

Following investigations, the then field investigator Lakhi Ram was arrested on Tuesday.
