Cuddalore
Special Correspondent CUDDALORE: As many as 2,278 students in the tsunami-affected places in both the districts of Cuddalore (1,551) and Villupuram (727) appeared for the special Secondary School Leaving Examinations that began today. The examinations would go on till May 9. The mainstream SSLC examinations were held from March 24 to April 8. The State Government, however, had put off the examinations for the sake of the students hailing from the tsunami-affected areas to get over the losses suffered by them, including study materials. In Cuddalore the candidates from 12 schools sat for the examinations in the following eight centres: Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Old Town; St.David Higher Secondary School at O.T; Government High School at Periakuppam ; Government Girls HSS at Parangipettai; Government Boys HSS at Parangipettai; Seva Mandir; Arumugha Navalar High School at Chidambaram; and, C.Mutlur Government High School. In Villupuram district the candidates from five schools took the examinations in two centres: Government High School at Marakkanam (338) and Government High School at Anumanthai (389).
