ONGOLE:
The CPI (Maoist) has claimed responsibility for the Claymore mine attack on the Superintendent of Police, Mahesh Chandra Laddha, at Ongole on Wednesday, and expressed regret over the death of two innocent persons in the incident.
Speaking to The Hindu on the telephone, the CPI (Maoist) Nallamala Forest Area Committee secretary, Sudarasan, said on Thursday that Mr. Laddha survived the attack due to some technical mistakes committed in the operation. He said that the party would not spare him and other officers such as Ranganath (Markapur DSP), Satyanarayana (SI), Malla Reddy (Kurnool SP), Rajasekhar (Nandyal OSD), Johnson Babu (Atmakur SI), and Nagendram (special constable in Kurnool).
