HYDERABAD: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) is gearing up to launch a publicity campaign to highlight the Congress Government's achievements on its first anniversary. The APCC too is planning to chip in with its efforts to "tell the people the truth as they are being nurtured on falsehood by the Telugu Desam Party and a section of media toeing the Opposition line," the PCC president, K. Keshava Rao said on Thursday. The CLP secretary, E. Pratap Reddy, said the Government had been focussed on implementing its election manifesto all these days. The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had blazed a new path in governance by taking the administration to the people literally, he said. Programmes like Rajiv Palle Baata, Rajiv Nagara Baata, Praja Patham and Rythu Chaitanya Yatra were being used to empower people with information as well grievance redressal, he said. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister's core team is busy identifying the highlights of the Congress Government's achievements like free power supply, three per cent interest on loans to DWCRA women, land distribution and improvement programme, Rajiv Yuva Shakti to provide employment, peace talks and implementation of the recommendations of the Jayathi Ghosh report. It is preparing special bulletins and visual clips to "promote the pro-farmer and pro-poor image of the Government." The Congress MLA, G. Muddukrishnama Naidu, said, "Publicity has never been our strength so far. In fact, we concentrated on developmental programmes rather than on wasting money on publicity. Even now the effort is not to spend money on publicising our programmes but to empower people with information so that they can have access to the benefits."
