KASARAGOD: The district panchayat today urged the Government to intensify the initiative to treat and rehabilitate endosulfan victims in the plantation areas in the district. The district panchayat has chalked out and begun implementation of an ambitious project for the purpose and had conducted medical camps for the victims. The panchayat has also identified a spot in Badiyaduka grama panchayat for building a rehabilitation centre for the endosulfan victims. The panchayat has sought funds for this purpose. But, the new package announced by the Government has nothing new, alleged the panchayat council. The Government should entrust the job of rehabilitating the endosulfan victims to the panchayat, the meeting presided over by the district panchayat president, E. Padmavathy, said.
