DEHRA DUN: Most schools in the Doon Valley have banned use of "ink whiteners" by students following reports of some children inhaling it to get a "kick". Headmasters and managers of several leading schools here said on Thursday that they were conducting surprise checks of school bags to find out if any student was carrying ink whitener or any other intoxicating substance. This step has been taken after reports of alleged drug abuse by students from several prestigious institutions over the past several months. In another breakthrough, the Doon police arrested several members of a drug peddling gang and recovered about three kilos of charas from them. All of them have been booked under the Narcotics Act, the police said.
