SKU convocation today

ANANTAPUR: All arrangements are in place for the 13th convocation of Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU) near here, scheduled on Friday. The convocation will be held in the absence of the Chancellor of the university and Governor, Sushil Kumar Shinde, due to ill health.

The university has decided to confer honorary degrees of Doctorate on M. Abel, the first Vice-Chancellor of the university (1981-86), Roddam Prabhakar Rao, the former DGP of the State, and G. Padmaja Reddy, classical dancer.

The Secretary of University Grants Commission (UGC), Ved Prakash, will deliver the convocation address. In all, 1,221 students will be conferred degrees in Ph.D, M.Phil and post graduation during the convocation.

The university has proposed to introduce two under graduate; four post graduate and one post graduate diploma courses in distance education mode from 2005-06 academic year. The new courses include MA and PG Diploma in Mass Communication and Journalism.
