Ryots told to go in for multiple crops

Staff Reporter

KURNOOL: The Chairman of Kurnool Market Committee, K. Rambhupal Reddy, asked farmers to take up multiple crops to reduce risk in agriculture. Addressing a meeting of farmers at Pasupala village near here on Wednesday he said the farmers should bring their produce to market yards to have control over traders. He said dairy activity would supplement the income of farmers from agriculture. He said farmers could mortgage their produce and take loans to avoid distress sale.

The Joint Director, Hanumantha Rao, explained to farmers the profitability of taking up castor cultivation in the place of groundnut. Agriculture scientist, G. Narasimha Rao, explained the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) cultivation method to farmers.
