New CMD for NPCC

NEW DELHI : The new Chairman and Managing Director of the National Projects Construction Corporation (NPCC), Arbind Kumar, took charge of office on Thursday.

Formerly Group General Manager at RITES, he has had varied experience over the past 26 years in the field of construction and consultancy.

Counselling

NEW DELHI : In view of the fact that every year a large number of students appearing for their Board examinations suffer from bouts of acute depression and fear, non-profit organisation, Global Studies, will launch a concise yet comprehensive programme for Class XII students during their summer vacations.

This programme envisions completion of the physics, chemistry and maths syllabus during the vacations, so that students develop confidence and start believing in themselves; for only a positive outlook can keep them from falling into depression, a release said.

For the project, which would run from May 16 to June 30, Global Studies has joined hands with teachers of leading public schools and colleges of Delhi. The programme, for which registration will take place on May 1 at Navshkati School, near ITO, will also feature a special counselling session. New scheme

NEW DELHI : A new scheme that aims at meeting the credit needs of restaurants that either have to undergo renovation or are about to be set up was launched by the State Bank of India (SBI) here on Thursday.

According to an SBI release, the scheme will have no ceiling on the amount of loan and the money can be repaid to SBI between three to seven years.

Workshop

NEW DELHI : To provide counselling on HIV/AIDS among armed forces personnel and their families, a Peer Leaders Workshop was inaugurated at the Base Hospital in Delhi Cantonment here on Wednesday.

The workshop intends to create a cadre of knowledgeable workers who would impart health education and counselling on HIV and AIDS.

Organised jointly by the Armed Forces Medical Services and the United States Army Pacific Command, the workshop was attended by the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Arun Prakash; the Charge De Affaires at the US Embassy, Robert O. Blake; the Director of the Office of UNAIDS Security, Ulf Kristoffersson; and the Director General of Armed Forces Medical Services, Lieutenant-Governor J.R. Bhardwaj.
