NEW DELHI: : The Delhi High Court on Thursday gave one week to the Delhi Government and other public bodies concerned to solve the menace of stray cattle in the Capital. A Division Bench comprising Justice B.C. Patel and Justice S.K. Kaul directed that the officials of the Delhi Government, the Delhi Police Commissioner, the Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer of the Delhi Cantonment Board would solve the menace within one week. The Bench warned that if the menace was not solved within the deadline, the Delhi Government officials concerned would have to present themselves before the Court to explain non-compliance, if made, of the directive. The Bench issued the direction during the hearing of public interest litigation by Meira Bhatia, a Delhi High Court lawyer, seeking directions to the above-mentioned respondents to remove stray cattle from the roads and streets of the Capital.
