GULBARGA: Shami Iqbal Mehmood (30), an advocate, was waylaid and murdered by a group of men near the Industrial Training Institute on Thursday. Mehmood, a junior in the office of criminal lawyer, Ustad Sadat Hussain, was on his way to court from home on his scooter when the group waylaid and assaulted him with weapons. According to the police, the assailants first threw chilli powder on the face of the victim and pounced on him after he lost control and fell on the road. Before the police could arrive on the spot, people shifted Mehmood to the Government General Hospital, where he was declared "brought dead''.
