HYDERABAD: The Union Labour Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has dismissed the controversy surrounding his absence from Parliament on Thursday as a "trivial issue." Answering questions from mediapersons here, Mr. Rao said he had come to the city to participate in the fourth anniversary celebrations of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, of which he is the president, after authorising the Union Minister of State for Medical and Health, Panabaka Laksmi, to reply to questions relating to his subject in Parliament. He had also informed about his absence to the Lok Sabha Speaker and the Rajya Sabha Chairman.
`Narendra attended'
To ensure that there was no problem, he had also made sure that the Union Minister of State for Rural Development, A. Narendra, attended Parliament, he added. He made light of the controversy saying the Cabinet was collectively responsible to give replies in Parliament. The replies were not Minister-specific. Asked about the comments of the Defence Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, that parliamentary work gained priority over party affairs, he merely said it was his personal view.
