MANGALORE: Sleuths of the district anti-rowdy squad have arrested four persons and recovered a revolver of foreign-make, four bullets and knives from their possession. A departmental press release here on Thursday said the squad, which was on rounds, spotted the four in a car near T.B. Hospital Road at Vamanjoor near here. When the personnel stopped the car, they found Ravindra Nayak of Santosh Nagar, Vamanjoor, at the wheel along with Ashok Shetty alias Ashu of Kerama House, Vamanjoor, Jeevan Pais of Kottara Cross and Arun Pais of Shaktinagar. The four were searched on suspicion, the release said. The police recovered a revolver of foreign-make loaded with four live cartridges from Ravindra Nayak.
Knives seized
They also recovered knives of various sizes from the possession of the other three accused. Police suspect that the four were planning a major crime within the district. The squad has since handed over the accused to the Mangalore Rural (Kankanady) police station for further investigation. The Superintendent of Police, Soumendu Mukherjee, has congratulated the team for arresting the four.
