Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in parts of K.K. Nagar, Adyar, Maduravoyal, Tondiarpet, Pudupet, Sowcarpet (West), Villivakkam and Guindy between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday for maintenance work.

Eye camp

The Triplicane-based Singhvi Charitable Trust conducted a free eye and dental camp at the Government Middle School at Chathurangappatinam in Kancheepuram district on Sunday. Free spectacles were distributed to 167 persons. Fifty persons were referred to Sankara Eye Hospital and Sankara Nethralaya for cataract surgery.

Science camp

The Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre will conduct a summer science camp for students of Standard VII-IX from May 9. Those who want to register for the five-day camp may contact the centre over phone 24410025 and 24915250.

Workshop

The Wisdom Medical Research Foundation has organised a two-day workshop on `The Road to Recovery and New Life' for alcoholics and drug addicts, starting Saturday at 10, Ramappa Nagar, Second Cross Street, Perungudi. For details, contact 2496 4404 or 2496 4919

Judges reshuffled

The Madras High Court Registry on Thursday reshuffled 21 district judges, and 35 fast track court (FTC) judges. It also transferred the Registrar (Judicial) of the Madurai Bench of the court and posted him as Director of the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Academy in an existing vacancy.

He has been replaced by the Principal District Judge, Karur, G. Chockalingam. R. Karuppiah, Tirunelveli district judge, has been appointed Registrar (Administration) in the Madurai Bench, in the place of S. Palanivelu, who has been posted as Principal District Judge, Madurai.

The Chairman of the State Transport Appellate Tribunal, F. Akbar, will be Nagapattinam district judge while the Special Judge of Mahila Court, S. Vimala, has been transferred to Tiruchi.

C. Pankajram of Pudukottai has been posted to FTC-I at Chennai, while T.C.S. Raja Chockalingam of Ramanathapuram has been transferred to FTC-II here.
