NEW DELHI: K.S. Sudarshan, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief, on Thursday showered praise on the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, even as he dismissed in one sentence the sangh's political arm, first born as the Jana Sangh and later christened Bharatiya Janata Party. The occasion was the celebration of the birth centenary of the `guru' of all RSS chiefs M.S. Golwalkar, who recommended Hitler's final solution as a possible way of dealing with the "problem of the minorities". Mr. Sudarshan spoke of Golwalkar's life and works after a 12-volume book on him was released. He said the BJP had become the "focal point" of India's polity, while Golwalkar's "biggest achievement" was that he set up the VHP, which was given the major task of "awakening Hindus". He said Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Sunder Singh Bhandari were among the first set of `pracharaks' who were asked to help Shyama Prasad Mukherjee set up the political arm of the RSS. BJP president L.K. Advani was not mentioned at all.
