HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of United States of India (CPUSI) on Thursday demanded that the Government order an inquiry by a high court judge into the alleged killing of its leaders --Yadaiah and Sammakka -- in a `fake encounter' on the city outskirts. Speaking to reporters at the Osmania General Hospital morgue, the CPUSI spokesperson Sri Hari charged that the police killed the couple though they had the alternative of arresting and prosecuting them. Balladeer Gadar remarked that as long as the police resorted to encounters the naxals too would continue the retaliation. The CPUSI and Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee raised slogans against the Government. After completion of the post-mortem on the naxal couple, their family members and party activists tried to stage demonstration on the road. But, the Afzalgunj police foiled their attempt. The bodies of the two slain naxalites were taken to their native village Votayi in Kothaguda mandal of Warangal district. Meanwhile, the State committees of the CPI-ML Janashakti and Chandrapulla Reddy parties condemned the killing. In separate press releases, they demanded judicial inquiry into all encounter killings and booking of murder cases against police officers concerned.
