Thirteen injured in accidents in district

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thirteen persons were injured in different accidents in the district on Thursday. Six people were injured when a mini-bus carrying a marriage party rammed into a lorry at Kattakada. A woman was injured when the motorbike on which she was riding pillion collided with a vehicle at Mangalapuram. Three others were injured when the autorickshaw in which they travelling overturned at Kannamoola around 6 p.m. The injured have been admitted to the Medical College Hospital.

A pedestrian was injured seriously after being knocked down by a motorcycle at Thonnakkal on Thursday evening. Radha, 55, of Vengode, who was injured seriously, has been admitted to the Medical College Hospital. Rafi, 22, who was riding the bike, and Sameer, 20, who was riding pillion, also sustained minor injuries and are under observation in the casualty wing. Both are from Mangalapuram.

Succumbs to burns

Geeta, 40, who was admitted to the Medical College Hospital (MCH) with serious burns on April 19, died on Thursday. The police have booked her husband, Tulasi, on the charge of murder.

The police case is that Tulasi set Geeta on fire after dousing her with kerosene at his house in Valiyasala. Tulasi also suffered burns in the process. He is currently under treatment at the MCH. The couple has no children. An official said domestic discord had resulted in the murder. Geeta's body was handed over to relatives after the post-mortem examination.

Woman found hanging

A 30-year-old woman was found hanging at her house in Vellanadu on Thursday. The police identified the deceased as Latha Kumari.
