BANGALORE: The Nelamangala police on Thursday raided a printing press in R.T. Nagar Police Station limits in the city and arrested its proprietor on charges of supplying printed sachets to illicit arrack manufactures. The police said the arrested Jaubran (34), a resident of Kavalbhairasandra, owned a printing press at KHM Block. The police said he supplied printed sachets to illicit arrack manufacturers in and around Nelamangala, where 24 people died after consuming spurious arrack recently. The police said the accused used to print the trademarks of two leading distilleries and supply them to illicit arrack makers. The police seized a printing machine, polythene rolls and printing blocks from the press. The police are on the look out for Imran, brother of the accused. The two brothers were allegedly printing and supplying the sachets for four months. The raid was conducted by a team led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Nelamangala), L. Shivashankarappa. Meanwhile, the police arrested Ayub Khan of Ramanagara who had allegedly filled illicit arrack into the sachets and supplied them to vendors. With this, the Nelamangala police have arrested 14 persons in connection with the hooch tragedy.
