BANGALORE: Three persons were killed in road accidents in the city since Wednesday afternoon. A labourer was killed when a sand-laden lorry by which he was travelling overturned near the Kodigehalli Gate on Bellary Road in the early hours of Thursday. The police said that around 1.30 a.m. the lorry overturned when the driver suddenly applied brakes. The labourer, Manju (32) of Kolar, was trapped under the sand and died instantaneously, the police said. The Hebbal traffic police have registered a case. Byrappa Nayak (38), a resident of Yelahanka New Town, was killed when a multi-utility vehicle hit his motorcycle near the Dairy Circle in Yelahanka New Town on Wednesday night. In another accident, Thangavelu (55) was seriously injured when a lorry hit his motorcycle on Kalkere Main Road in K.R. Puram police station limits around 1.15 p.m. on Wednesday. He died at NIMHANS.
