TUTICORIN: : The constituents of Democratic Progressive Alliance on Friday evening staged a demonstration at Kovilpatti, demanding the arrest of Chelladurai, an Independent councillor, who had allegedly assaulted a Marumalrchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam councillor, Kombaiah, during the municipal council meeting on Thursday. The police said about 60 cadres took part in the agitation.
Case registered
Meanwhile, the Kovilpatti police on Friday registered a case against Chelladurai on the charge of assaulting Kombaiah and launched an investigation into the incident.
