PUDUKOTTAI: The Collector, R. Thiyagarajan, has directed officials to ensure quality in rural development works. Talking to officials while inspecting several rural development works under execution in Viralimalai and Gandarvakottai panchayat unions on Thursday. He inspected road works being executed under the Prime Minister's Gram Sadak Yojana in Gandarvakottai block between Ambukoil and Manapatti at an expenditure of Rs. 33.93 lakhs, between Ambukooil and Manjampatti at an outlay of Rs. 17.89 lakhs, between Thurusupatti and Pisanathur at an outlay of Rs. 74.40 lakhs and between Manjapettai and Thachankurichi at an estimate of Rs. 10.63 lakhs. He advised them to immediately replace the bigger blue metals by smaller ones. In Viralimalai block, he inspected similar works being laid in Agarapatti at an outlay of Rs. 76.87 lakhs, between Killukottai and Sivakamipuram at an estimate of Rs. 6.65 lakhs and other roads. He asked the officials to abide by Government norms regarding the quantum and quality of blue metal. At Malsuthi village in Gandarvakottai block, the Collector, who saw the village panchayat office closed, ordered the village panchayat president, the panchayat clerk and the village administrative officer to be present at the office during working hours. He advised them to expedite the work on setting up deep borewell in Venkatakonpatti at an expenditure of Rs.1.51 lakhs.
