NAGAPATTINAM: Congress workers who undertook a Salt Satyagraha march arrived at Vedaranyam in Nagapattinam district on Friday. All the 135 members including 20 women, who covered 223 km from Tiruchi to Vedaranyam, were given a rousing reception at Vedaranyam. The marchers observed fast on Friday as Rajaji did during the Salt Satyagraha and took out a candle light procession in the evening. P.V. Rajendran, former MP and AICC member, who is incharge of the re-enactment of the salt satyagraha march said Union Ministers P. Chidambaram, Mani Shankar Aiyar, E.V.K.S. Elangovan and other party leaders would participate, picking up salt on the Vedaranyam coast on Saturday afternoon. The Ministers will address a public meeting in the evening to felicitate the marchers and distribute relief assistance to the December 26, 2004 tsunami affected persons.
