CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Government has told the Chennai bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) that the Centre had instructed it to "initiate disciplinary action" against R. Christodas Gandhi, a 1977 batch IAS officer. When an application, filed by Mr. Gandhi against him being kept in compulsory waiting, came up before a Bench comprising the CAT Vice-Chairman Sathi Nair and the Judicial Member Ashok S. Karamadi on Friday, the Additional Advocate-General, A.L. Somayaji, submitted that the Centre's communication in that regard had been received by the State. He also added that the matter was confidential and a detailed counter-affidavit could be filed in two weeks. Accordingly, the Bench permitted the Government to file counters in two weeks, and then posted the matter to June 6 for further hearing.
