WARANGAL: Ajmeera Devender, a farmer from Bhavsinghpally in Chityal mandal, burnt two bags of chilli in protest against the `indifferent' attitude of Markfed in procuring his products at the Enumamula marketyard here on Friday. Tension prevailed at the marketyard as ryots joined the protest and raised slogans against the agency. The police had to intervene to disperse the protesters. Mr. Devender told reporters that he had brought 39 bags of chilli to the marketyard on Wednesday. On being told by the Markfed officials he dried his product by spending Rs.2,000. ``When I approached officials today, they refused to buy my chilli. Taking advantage of my position some middlemen are asking me to sell them for a throwaway price,'' he said.
