TUMKUR: Action is being initiated against some officials who have been accused of being responsible for the Thursday's accident at Kodipalya near here in which four persons travelling by a private bus died. C. Channigappa, Minister for Sericulture and in-charge of Tumkur district, who visited the injured persons at the hospital, issued directions in this regard. The Superintendent of Police, P. Muniswamy, said the police investigation is in progress. Criminal cases will be filed against the officials if they are found guilty. Mr. Channigappa, who sanctioned Rs. 10,000 as compensation to the family of the victims, said he will try to get more compensation from the Government. He directed the officials to provide proper treatment to eight persons who were injured in the accident. A woman who was among those killed was identified as Srirangamma, 55, of Sirivara village near here. U.R. Badigar, Superintending Engineer, Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, said the road-widening work was the reason for the accident. However, Shankare Gowda, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, said the accident happened because of the negligence on the part of the driver.
