VIJAYAWADA: The Krishna District Milk Producers' Mutually Aided Cooperative Union Limited, producer of Vijaya Dairy products, has increased the purchase price of milk from May 1, here on Friday. The milk union's board of directors who met today increased the price of buffalo milk from the present Rs 185 per kg fat to Rs 195 per kg fat at its meeting today. The union will pay the farmers Rs 19 per litre for buffalo milk with ten per cent fat. The purchase price of cow milk has been hiked from the existing Rs 77 per kg fat to Rs 80 per kg fat. This is said to the highest price being paid to its producers by any dairy in South India. The decision to increase the purchase price was taken by the board to give a competitive price to the producers.
