BANGALORE: About 50,000 students are parents are expected to visit the education fair organised by the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) at the Palace Grounds from April 30 to May 3. The fair will provide students first-hand information about the courses and the facilities available in the colleges affiliated to VTU. "The main objective is to help the students choose the right college and the course when they appear for CET counselling," said a VTU release.
Bulletin
An information bulletin on career guidance for engineering college aspirants taking the Common Entrance Test (CET-2005) will be released at the fair which will be inaugurated on Saturday by the Primary and Secondary Education Minister, R. Ramalinga Reddy. At the fair, students could also look out for a CD brought out by VTU to address questions on the choice of engineering branches. The CD features opinions and insights by distinguished persons from the academia and industry on Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering and Electronics and Information Technology.
Expert talk
The 65-minute CD will be played continuously at the fair. Students could listen to experts talking about the various career options and job opportunities available across 23 branches of engineering. The experts include the former Indian Institute of Science Director, G. Padmanabhan, and the former AICTE Chairman, R. Natarajan. 80 colleges participate
Every year, about 80 engineering colleges have been participating in the fair. About 25,000 students and parents had visited the fair last year. This year, the fair will also feature a career guidance programme to help students get information about the courses and job opportunities available. Serial books brought out by VTU on popular technical topics for the common man will be on sale at reasonable prices. There will be a separate stall with posters giving information on EDUSAT and facilities on VTU campus in Belgaum, Indian Vision 2020 and the memorandum of understanding details with various organisations.
