32-year-old woman murdered

BANGALORE: In the second such incident reported from Bangalore Rural district in eight days, a 32-year-old woman was murdered on Thursday night allegedly by her husband and in-laws for more dowry.

According to the police, the incident took place at Tadikavagilu village in Ramanagaram taluk. Venkatalakshmi's husband, Sreenivasa, mother-in-law, Shanthamma, and father-in-law, Honnagiri Gowda, allegedly strangled her with a sari and dumped her body in a school in the village. There were also some injuries on her body, the police said. Venkatalakshmi's brother, Venkataswamy of Kanva village, has lodged a complaint with the Ramanagaram Rural police that her husband and in-laws had murdered her for more dowry. Venkatalakshmi married Sreenivasa, son of her maternal uncle, three years ago. It is said that Sreenivasa's parents were opposed to the marriage. The Ramanagaram Rural police have registered a case of murder.

On April 21, 23-year-old Hajima was murdered allegedly by her husband and in-laws for more dowry at Channapatna town in Bangalore Rural district. Hajima, a native of Bannur in Mysore district, married Aslam Pasha of Channapatna three years ago.
