ocial activist Baba Amte and scientist R.A. Mashelkar will be honoured with Maharashtra Bhushan on Sunday, Maharashtra Day.
Baba Amte runs Anandvan in Vidarbha, a commune which rehabilitates and houses leprosy patients.
Recipient of Padma Vibhushan, the Magsaysay award, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Award, the Templeton Prize and the Demian-Doughton Award, he will receive this honour from Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Social activist Baba Amte
Dr. Mashelkar is the Director-General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. His sustained campaign on Intellectual Property Rights has promoted awareness among the scientific community and corporates. His work has saved many traditional Indian products from being patented by foreign companies.
Dr. Mashelkar is a recipient of Padma Bhushan.
