May Day greetings

PONDICHERRY: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy has said that the Government was keen on taking care of the wellbeing of workers.

In his May Day message he said workers were the sinews and veins of society and also its developmental activities. Care was taken to ensure that there was proper and congenial environment in the institutions or factories where the workers were working. He wished the May Day to be an occasion to usher in prosperity and job in the life of the workers.

Health and Labour Minister E Valsaraj said the Union Territory Administration initiated several measures for socio-economic betterment of workers. There should be sustained cooperation and continued contributions by workers for the development of Pondicherry.

Agriculture Minister A Namassivayam, Local Administration Minister A Elumalai, the Pattali Makkal Katchi Parliamentary party leader M Ramadoss, the Pondicherry PCC president V Narayanasamy MP and leaders of various political parties greeted the workers on the occasion of May Day.

Leader of the Opposition and convener of the Pondicherry unit of the DMK, R.V. Janakiraman, said it was necessary that the workers were granted right to strike.
