NEW DELHI: : The public sector GAIL(India) announced a four per cent rise in profit after tax to reach Rs. 1,947 crores during 2004-05 from Rs. 1,869 crores in the previous year. According to provisional data, the turnover has also risen by 15 per cent from Rs. 10,827 crores to Rs. 12435 crores. A company statement giving the unaudited annual financial results for 2004-05, says GAIL has recorded growth in all key physical as well as financial parameters during the year. Gas transmission has risen by 16 per cent to 72.86 million standard cubic metres per day (mmscmd) from 62.84 mmscmd in the previous financial year. Polymer sales have also increased by 17 per cent to 3.19 lakh tonnes from 2.73 lakh tonnes. LPG transmission has gone up by 16 per cent to 2.14 million tonnes (1.84 million tonnes). The increase in the turnover is attributed to the increase in natural gas sales and transmission on account of supply of regassified LNG, increase in polymer sales and LPG transmission.
