The rabid cow in a violent mood.
KOLLAM: : A rabid cow is spreading panic in Umayanallur on the outskirts of Kollam city. The cow, a pregnant heifer, shows a tendency to attack any one who tries to get near it. The owner has two other milking cows and this has spread panic among those who purchase milk from him. The rabid cow will be killed tomorrow. A month ago, a rabid dog bit several persons and livestock in the area. During the past one week two persons had died of rabies in the area. This has compelled many to take prophylactic anti-rabies vaccination. Their livestock have also been administered vaccination. From Thursday the cow has stopped taking food. The veterinary surgeon B. Ajit Babu who examined the cow said it exhibited strong symptoms. If the cow does not die by Sunday the best option will be to kill it, he said.
