Season's siesta

COME HELL OR HIGH WATER: A mongrel breaks the monotony of an empty beach at the Kovalam tourist resort near Thiruvananthapuram. As the November-April high season comes to a close, local hoteliers are heaving a sigh of relief. The December 26 tsunami has left Kerala Tourism unscathed, with over 80,000 visits on record in the two months following the South Asian calamity. In the previous year, the number of visits was almost the same at 89,048 during January-February. Photo: S. Gopakumar
