Dharwad ZP has 22 seats

DHARWAD: The number of seats in the Dharwad Zilla Panchayat has gone up from 18 to 22 as a result of the delimitation exercise undertaken by the State Election Commission in view of the elections to the zilla panchayats.

The number of seats in the five taluk panchayats has also gone up from 66 to 75. The delimitation exercise has created four new constituencies in Dharwad (Narendra), Kalghatgi (Devikoppa), Hubli (Koliwad) and Navalgund (Alagwadi).

At the taluk-panchayat level, the number of constituencies has gone up from 18 to 21 in the Dharwad Taluk Panchayat (Yadwad, Kurubagatti and Kumbarkoppa), 11 to 13 in the Kalghatgi Taluk Panchayat (Sangameshwar and Mishrikoti), 12 to 13 each in the Hubli (Sulla) and Navalgund (Ibrahimpur) taluk panchayats, and 13 to 15 in the Kundgol Taluk Panchayat (Gudenakatti and Baradwad).

The following are the zilla panchayat constituencies in the five taluks of the district: Kotur, Garag, Uppinabetageri, Hebballi, Narendra and Nigadi (Dharwad); Galagi, Mishrikoti, Devikoppa, Tabakada and Honnihalli (Kalghatgi); Byahatti, Koliwad, Adargunchi and B. Aralikatti (Hubli); Alagwadi, Shalawadi, Morab and Nalavadi (Navalgund); and Gudageri, Saunshi, Kamadolli and Yaliwad (Kundgol).

The taluk panchayat constituencies are as follows: Madanbhavi, Tadakod, Lokur, Uppinabetageri, Harobelawadi, Amminabhavi, Kanakur, Maradagi, Hebballli, Narendra Yadwad, Kurubagatti, Garag, Kotur, Tegur, Kumbarkoppa, Arvatigi, Honnapur, Mugad, Nigadi and Managandi (Dharwad); Galagi, Dhummawad, Muttagi, Mishrikoti, Hirehonnihalli, Dastikoppa, Sangameshwar, Devikoppa, Belavantar, Ganjigatti, Tabakada Honnihalli, Mukkal and Bammigatti (Kalghatgi); Byahatti, Hebsur, Ingalhalli, Kusugal, Sulla, Mantur, Koliwad, Rayanal, Anchatgeri, Belagali, Noolvi, Adargunchi and B. Aralikatti (Hubli); Alagwadi, Belavatigi, Tadahal, Shalavadi, Ibrahimpur, Yamanur, Tirlapur, Shirur, Morab, Shirkol, Kalawad, Hallikeri and Nalavadi (Navalgund); and Gudenahalli, Yaraguppi, Baradwad, Hirenarti, Kamadolli, Saunshi, Yerebudihal, Hireharakuni, Koobihal, Yaliwal, Guruvinahalli, Ingalagi, Gudageri, Harlapur and Kalasa (Kundgol).
