APMC polls: 105 file papers

HUBLI: As many as 105 candidates have filed 164 nominations for the elections to the agricultural produce market committees.

In a press release, the tahsildar, V.R. Yaradakeri, said that on Friday, which was the last day for filing nominations, 77 nominations were filed by candidates, prominent among whom were Rajshekar Menasinkai of the Congress, Shekharappa Itagi and Hanumantappa Bankapur.

Fifty-six members are to be elected to the committees.

Calendar

On May 2, the nomination papers will be scrutinised, and the last date to withdraw the nominations is May 5.

The elections will be held on May 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the votes will be counted on May 31 at 8 a.m.

The number of nominations filed in various APMC constituencies is as follows: Amargol 11, Koliwad 16, Belagali 11, Kusugal 15, Chabbi 10, Noolvi 9, Unakal 11, Hebasur 40, Old Hubli 9, Mantur 10, Byahatti 12, merchants' constituency 5, and cooperative society constituency5.
